American Association of University Women announces formation of Women’s Policy Leadership Network

The American Association of University Women is excited to announce the formation of the Women’s Policy Leadership Network (WPLN), a community of independent state and local women’s organizations dedicated to sharing strategy, expertise and experience on non-profit women’s advocacy.
WPLN, a totally free service of AAUW, will help form the basis of a nationwide link between local and state groups. Through monthly calls and an e-mail listserv, AAUW will share the insights of full-time policy experts, registered lobbyists, and experienced coalition builders. All participating organizations will have the opportunity to share their respective expertise as well as information and analysis of state and local advocacy activities.
WPLN calls will occur on the third Thursday of every month at 3 PM ET, and will typically last about an hour. We would like to invite you to join us for our first call on January 20th, which will include:
·         The vision and purpose of the Women’s Policy Leadership Network
·         A discussion of what the 112th Congress means for women’s issues, led by AAUW Director of Public Policy and Government Relations Lisa Maatz
·         WPLN moving forward: the resources AAUW can provide, future call topics, and reaching additional organizations.
Again, WPLN is free of charge, and AAUW respects the relationships between other national organizations and their affiliates – this is simply an opportunity for independent women’s groups to come together, share our own specialties, and organize for the mutual benefit of our missions.
Feel free to forward this to leaders and members of other such women’s organizations, and we hope you’ll join us for the first call of the Women’s Policy Leadership Network on Thursday, January 30th at 3 PM EST. To RSVP for the conference call please fill-out the form online at http://bit.ly/g7YM2D.
